Young Professionals of Waterbury Region (YPOWR)
The Young Professionals of the Waterbury Region organization (YPOWR) was founded in 2012. The organization’s mission is to sustain and enrich greater Waterbury by uniting and developing our young professionals. YPOWR recognizes that in order to address the aging of our state’s population, it is imperative to keep young, talented professionals connected to greater Waterbury and Connecticut. Its definition of a young professional is an individual between 21- 39 who is looking to grow their career in the greater Waterbury region.Likewise, the Chamber also recognizes the importance of this demographic. Local employers invest valuable resources in training and helping young professionals move forward in their careers value the YPOWR’s mission of keeping these employees engaged in our community.
YPOWR’s offerings have included numerous social and networking events in a number of settings. Professional development training seminars this year have included sessions on corporate leadership, entrepreneurship and public speaking, while volunteer initiatives have included supplying packages for U.S troops stationed overseas and Habitat for Humanity homebuilding.
